Langney Chaplaincy:
We oversee and organise the Langney Shopping Centre Chaplaincy Team. Every Tuesday and Friday mornings between 10am and 12pm, you can find volunteers in high-vis jackets welcoming people for prayer, discussion or just a chat, reaching out to shop keepers and customers alike. This ministry started in 2008 and is a regular feature in the shopping centre. We have had many testimonies of healings and people experiencing the presence of God after talking and praying with the team. We aim to be a welcoming, friendly, ‘Jesus- representation’ in the shopping centre. Volunteer chaplains are from a number of churches across the town and we welcome new people on to the team with the backing and recommendation of their church leader.
Love Lunch:
The first Sunday of each month is a gospel service followed by lunch. Our joy is to see people who don’t know Jesus be in an environment where He is worshipped and adored. The short service is all age and has a craft activity for the children. Lunch is simple and shared together as a family. If you would like to come along and have dietary requirements, please let us know and we will make sure we cater for you.
MakeLunch:
MakeLunch is a nationwide project of Transforming Lives for Good. TLG is a national charity seeking to empower churches to reach out to their communities. (www.tlg.org.uk)
We started in 2018 and each school holiday we welcome families from the local area. We always have a craft or activity for the children, a chance for parents and carers to have a cuppa and sit down and then we all eat a hot healthy nutritious lunch together, followed by a yummy pudding! Whilst primarily offering help to those families whose children receive free school meals in term time, we will feed any families who come to us.
Afternoon Tea:
Every couple of Months we run an ‘Afternoon Tea’ on a Thursday afternoon. We open the Church for an informal afternoon of fun, games, chat sometimes quizzes and always a cup of tea and home made cake. Check out the What’s On page for our next event.
Men’s Breakfast:
Once a month River of Life men gather (inviting friends and neighbours) at St Barnabas church for a full English breakfast. There is no speaker, we come together to build relationships, chat, eat, do life, in an atmosphere of honour, authenticity and love for one another.
Breakfast is served at 8am, feel free to come along from 7:15am to have a coffee, tea, and chat. We all get involved with setting up and clearing and washing up and loading the dishwasher. If you need to go after eating, that’s fine, no problem, we are family together at River of Life Community Church.
The dates for 2024 will be posted on our What’s On page. There is no charge for the breakfast and refreshments, but we ask for a donation towards the costs. Please ensure you book a place by the Thursday before the Breakfast; call or text Dave on 07708 314730.
